Hagane Gearing

The Hagane design concept makes reels smooth and durable thanks to the unique metalworking technology. This gear provides excellent strength and efficiency, maintaining its durability for years, even under heavy use.

G Free Body

This Shimano technology keeps the internal parts of the reel shifted close to the rod. By moving the centre of gravity closer to your hand position, the G Free body reduces fatigue and enhances casting comfort.

XT-7 Body

The body is made from XT-7, Shimano’s custom graphite material, favoured for its reliability, robustness and light weight. Even though the handle is made from one piece of machined aluminium, the whole reel weighs only 245g (9oz).

Varispeed II Line Lay

One specially designed gear is oval shaped and the other a remarkable square shape. They move at two different speeds to lay the line flat and smooth onto the spool, providing an easy, long distance cast.

A-RC Spool

The lip on the cold forged aluminium spool is V-shaped, which ensures the line comes off the reel in smaller loops for longer and more accurate casting. Shimano reels with an A-RC spool minimise the risk of backlash.
