You might wonder why it took Korda so long to produce a leadcore. Well, you won't be surprised to learn that it took this long because the development team wanted Kable to exceed expectations. The tricky part was to really break ground when it came to camouflage. Rather than just settle for the standard flecked leadcore, the development team decided to investigate novel ways of hiding our new leader material. After much trial and error, they hit upon using subtle bands of colour to break up the outline of the leader and allow Kable to melt into the background. Unfortunately, another company was able to copy our banded camouflage before we got the Kable to production.
However, theirs is garish and isn't nearly as realistic as ours, the truly innovative version. The Kable camouflage colours have been chosen to replicate the most common types of lake bed that we fish over. As with the Dark Matter range, there are two Kable colour combinations available, this time Weed/Silt and Gravel. Kable is easy to splice using Korda needles and that's the best way to achieve a secure loop. It's a relatively thin leadcore for it's breaking strain and is remarkably supple, laying over bottom contours nicely. Kable is supplied on 7m and 25m bulk spools. If, like all at Korda, you believe that you'll get more bites by making sure that the fish can't see your end tackle, then you'll love this little family of products!
The Gravel Kable has been designed for use over the harder, clay, sand and gravel spots that are found on many of our venues. Our Weed/Silt Kable has been designed for use over the sort of choddy, weedy, silty lake beds that the chod rig was designed for. Rather than simply producing a 'me-too' product, the product development team, headed up by Adam Penning, decided to try a unique, banded camo pattern. The carefully selected, alternating bands of colour have the effect of breaking up the outline of your leader, making it practically melt into the lake bed. Kable has a breaking strain of 50lb and is available on 7m and 25m spools. It splices extremely well, producing strong loops for easy connection to the rest of your terminal tackle and main line. If you're looking for the perfect leadcore then you've just found it...
